A beautiful property set at the base of a hill. The staff at Bara Bunglow deserve a special mention - Surinder ji, the darban, is brilliant at conversations, the chef Satya ji makes mouth-watering local and international dishes and always serves you with a Smile. Dont forget to have his legendary Maharaja Thali - all local delicacies in one big, well-presented platter. Laal Maas too was lip-smaking.
Rakesh ji was kind enough to take us for a village walk. The small pretty village with a mix of ruins and modernity is a must-see. Often in the lure of big cities and tourist places such as Jaipur, we forget how culturally rich such villages are. We went to a shop where lac bangles are still made by hand. Where a third generation of family is still making battis in a traditional tandoor.
It is quiet, the people are warm and welcoming. A walk on these streets is a rich experience.
Special mention: They organize a 'Sunriser' on the top of the hill behind the fort. It is an easy 20 minute trek up from where you get beautiful panoramic views of Kalwar. In the morning, see the sun come up and the mist rise from fields all around.
The bonfire organized for us at the Janana section on the rooftop was magnificent!
Rooms: Super clean, aesthetically done, every room has character. We stayed at room 1 and 2 which are joint rooms separated by a common door. Good for two couples or a family.
Rooms 201 and 202 on the top are facing each other and share a beautiful sitout overlooking the entire property. In the evenings when the place is lit up, it's a fantastic view!
They have a swimming pool and indoor gym for those interested.
Birders can spot a large variety of birds here. They even have resident peacocks that are fed every morning by the compassionate staff. A sign that nature and guests both are well looked after here.
It is a quiet tranquil place where you can enjoy doing nothing. A tiny getaway for those that really need an escape.
